The sixth annual Salomon Trespass Challenge is set for Sunday, July 6, 2008 at 8am at the Nederland Elementary School in Nederland, Colorado. The challenging 5.4 and 10 mile off-road running races are organized by the folks at the Boulder Running Company and are a benefit for the Orphans of AIDS in South Africa and the Nederland Middle/Senior High School's Junior Honor Society. Set in the backdrop of the snowcapped mountains of the Continental Divide, The Salomon Trespass Challenge offers participants the choice of a high altitude 5.4 or 10 mile run. While both courses are challenging, the 10 mile race is especially so, with almost two miles of uphill at approximately an 8% grade offering spectacular views. But what goes up, also comes down! Participants in both races will be rewarded with a downhill finish.
Both races will start at 8am in front of the Nederland Elementary School. After a short stretch of paved road, runners will head uphill on a single-track trail before starting a seriees of dirtt roads, starting with Indian Peaks Road. All racers will take a left onto Colorado 126 South climbing and descending until the road T's. The first aid station is at this intersection. Runners than make a right onto Caribou Road. The course continues to be rolling, making elevation gains, until the road separates at approximately 3.7 miles. The second aid station is at this juncture. Competitors in the 5 mile race will take a right-hand turn, circling back on dirt roads to finish at the school. Runners on the 10 mile course will continue up Caribou Road, passing another aid station on an out-and-back to Hendrick's Mine where runners will crest the course's maximum elevation of approximately 10,000 feet. The 10 mile course then reverses and follows the 5 mile loop back to the finish at the school.
There will be TWO aid stations on the 5.4 mile course and FIVE aid stations on the TEN MILE course providing Eldorado Artesian Springs Water, energy drink and gels to racers. A sweep vehicle will follow the last runner.

HELP SUPPORT THE ORPHANS OF AIDS IN SOUTH AFRICA!
The Boulder Running Company, along with the help of the Salomon Trespass Challenge sponsors, organizes the race to help the hundreds of thousands of children living in poverty in South Africa who have been orphaned as a result of AIDS. The South African government doesn't have the means to address this issue, and BRC needs your support to raise monies urgently needed to help these children. It only costs $100 to support one child with clothing, food and housing for one year. Sign up for the race today and run to help these children!
Closer to home, the BRC will donate a portiton of the race proceeds to the Nederland Middle/Senior School Honor Society, who generously help by providing support as marshalls and aid station volunteers.
